You're still praying, still going through the motions, but something that used to feel alive now feels routine or far away.
What to know
The Quran frames closeness to Allah as something that moves in response to you — not a door that closes permanently, but a relationship that responds to being turned toward.
What you can do
Hold onto the promise itself: 'So remember Me; I will remember you' (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152) — the distance you feel is answered with an invitation, not a locked door.
Look for what's changed around the edges — less Quran, less dhikr, more unfiltered input from everything else — distance from Allah rarely arrives on its own; it usually follows distance from what keeps you close.
Start smaller than feels meaningful. One small, consistent act of turning toward Him tends to do more than waiting to feel ready for a bigger one.
